I am working on a 1946 F24 Fairchild restoration and I need some decorative aluminum 18 gauge sheet metal for the door pan and door step and kick guard on cockpit interior.  I cannot find the pattern to match the few original pieces I have.  Anyone have a supplier?  I would post a picture here if I could.  If anyone has an idea I can send the picture of the pattern to you directly.

' I found a perfect match for the diamond pattern aluminum ... as I recall I sourced it from McMaster Carr. Unfortunately I don't recall the exact specifics as that was many years ago. It was the smaller pattern they offer. I'm sure if you dig around their catalog you can figure it out.

'Darryln,  The company that manufactured  the Diamond Plate Trim is:  Rigidzed (Step metal) Rigidized Metals Corporation, 658 Ohio Street Buffalo, NY 14203 Toll Free: (800) 836-2580 Fax: (716) 849-0401 Local: (716) 849-4760 http://www.rigidized.com  The Sales Person I worked with was David M Smith. Don’t know if he is still there.  Here is the problem.  They only sell in larger quantities. You can try and see if they will run one 4 x 8 sheet.  15+ years ago I had 8 sheets run. They pulled the rolling dies out of long term storage (last run was 1940) for us. I sold all the 4 x 4 sheets to FC owners/rebuilders all over the USA. There is most likely one or more of the members that still have some stock left over. I know one owner that has a 4 X 4 Sheet in Fla.  A 4 x 4 sheet will do at least two F24s, more most likely.  Depending on which factory built your bird (KS, TX, NJ) there are two patterns used. One is the dot pattern (TX), not as common. The other is the raised Diamond.  I believe the P/N is RLW-1. The RL stands for Raymond Loewy. https://www.raymondloewy.com  Raymond was a designer that Mr. Fairchild used for paint schemes and interior appointments. The diamond plate pattern was used on the inside of 1930/40s Coca Cola Coolers. Mr. Loewy designed them for the Coca Cola Company. Just a little history.  JST    Jamie S. Treat A&P/IA
