F24 (UC61K) Right rudder pedal release springs

Post by coxargus »

'Folks,

I am having great difficulty finding springs close to drawing 42257 - there are masses of manufacturers out there with 1000s of stock springs but finding something that will do the job is proving very frustrating. When I get close to the right one there always seems to be one spec that make it unusableImage

Has anyone managed to find a source for something that will do the job? I would be very happy to hear about it.

Many thanks

' Frank, Unless the factory can supply the springs, just find ones that are close. It may be a trial and error approach, but as long as it works, that is all that matters. Aeronca springs may work. They are available from Wag Aero.  Did you try calling the factory? Joe

'Frank. Many spring manufactures will custom make springs to your specifications and/or replicate an existing spring. Choose a spring manufacturer and make an inquiry. If you have the spring drawing/specifications or a sample spring to replicate tell them and ask for a quote; and do shop around for the best quote. Quotes can vary over a wide range especially for small part runs. Probably best to inquire with the smaller shops for custom made springs.'

'Thanks to all.
I have finally sourced some that fit the bill very nicely - had to buy seven to make up minimum price and pay way over the odds for shipping! - that's life these days it seems.
I have five spares if any one needs one.'
