'Not true Mike, Mag produces a white powder when it corrodes, it turns black when it is treated with Magnadyne, for corrosion prevention.
How to tell the difference between MAG and ALU.
Sand a clean spot on the casting, ( very small spot) touch the clean spot with Alodine. if it turns black quickly it is MAG, if it produces and coffee looking stain it is aluminum. as described in the directions for use a " Golden hue "

'Hi Jack,
I have 6 sets on NOS mains and rod bearings.
When rebuilding Ranger Engines, I use re-poured bearings and line bore the
case to fin crankshaft.
