LIFT STRUTS
'HI ALL
HELP! FORWARD WING LIFT STRUT NEEDED
MY SEARCH STILL GOES ON! I POSSIBLY FOUND A SET IN TEXAS, BUT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEE THEM TILL OCTOBER.
DOES ANYONE HAVE A SERVICEABLE / FLYABLE SET OF F24 LIFT STRUTS? I HAVE SEEN SOME PICTURES AND SPOKE WITH A FEW FOLKS, BUT NOBODY SEEMS TO HAVE A GOOD SET OR DO NOT WANT TO PART WITH THEM.
CAN THESE BE REPAIRED? THEN ORIGINAL 1944 UC-61 MANUAL DOES NOT GIVE ANY REPAIR PARAMETERS.
I TRIED SOME LOCAL METAL FABRICATORS HERE IN THE MIDWEST, BUT NONE ARE ABLE TO GET TEH .95 THICK TUBE WITHOUT SPECIAL ORDERING HUNDREDS OF FEET AT A TIME. ECONOMICALLY UNREALISTIC.
ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATE!

Re: LIFT STRUTS
'Jim,
Suggestion; obtain a copy of Fairchild drawing 44169 for the UC-61 forward wing strut from the well known American museum with Fairchild drawing files, clean up notes as necessary and send a copy to Univair with a Request for Quotation letter. It will be expensive if Univair will make the strut but at least you will have that as an option. Let the group know the results should you get a quoation from Univair for the strut.
