Spark Plugs

'Anyone know of a source to purchase BG 417S spark plugs? It seems the REM 40's are readily available but I'd like the shorter/smaller plugs for the left side for clearance behind the carb. My ranger is -C5 engine.
The previous owner left me som BG4B2s plugs. Are these interchangeable?

'The REM37BY plug is 3/8" shorter than the REM40E plug. It has exposed electrodes. Not sure if it has fed blessings for the Ranger though it does fit nicely behind the carb making access a lot easier.

'Thanks Charles. Mr Joe Denest came through for me and found a few BG 417s plugs for me. Funny thing is while searching around on the internet, I missed an eBay auction for 15 of them by 2 mins. They sold for only $13.50.

My BG manuals call for 417S or 4B2-S for all model Ranger engines. I'm running the BG4B2-S now and have had no real carbon fouling or lead deposits. I'm not running any additives in the fuel or oil to prevent lead deposits. As long as they keep coming out reasonably clean , I don't plan on it. I bought a can of 4B2-S from Fresno Air parts .They were Manufactured and sealed in a vacuum sealed can during the war years. They were like new. There's 30 in a can, I don't remember the price being outrageous. The 4B2-S type also has a little shorter neck (the shield tube on top the plug) which helps with the plug behind the Carb. 'Thanks Tom. Where can I get a copy off that BG manual? I've noticed on other engines the two plugs were interchangeable but the FAA certificate for ranger engine only lists the champion plugs and BG 417s. Anyway to convince the Faa to make an update? Might take another 40 yrs but its a start....
