Your post is timely. The NASM indexes are being turned topsy turby over the next two months. I lost the drawing index url. Please share the "current" url for the index. I spent three hours chasing the rabbit hole on Friday. I found new resources, however I came up empty on the url for the drawing indexes. There are many new avenues in the NASM and Smithsonian web sites and data bases.

You may or may not find drawing 48107 in Jamies's CD as it contains certification drawings only(not sure which model) and is not inclusive of all drawings utilized in the manufacturing process. The construction drawing indices for each model(available from NASM) lists all the drawings used to construct the various models. I just checked the drawing index for the G model and drawing 48107 is listed as applicable.

'Hello Jp, NASM is the National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC. They are the repository for all available F-24 drawings and associated drawing indices turned over to them by Fairchild Corp. Obtaining drawings from them is a very formal, regimented and controled procedure but worth the effort. The procedure begins with your written request to them for your applicable drawing index so you can identify the drawing or drawings needed. Be aware that all drawings shown in an index may not be on hand at at NASM(probably lost forever) but the indices themselves are an invaluable resource. You will recieve via USPS ordering instructions, rules to follows, copy pricing and all the necessary submittal forms. Call me (860)535-1699 if you want the mailing address direct to the archive(It is a long and cumbersome address). Different thread now: I do not know the model F-24 you are working on but the later style universal blocks had bolt bushings in them which
apply to the blocks available from Bill. I have the drawings for the old style blocks without the bolt bushings. Since I have a set of Bill's blocks for my project, I have to order the later drawings in order to have the new blocks machined to the drawing requiements. Actually one could replicate the machine work done on an orginal block for new bushings and bolts and be ok. It a matter of checking dimensions and clearances so the holes are machined square and true and reamed to the correct size(critical).

If the indices for the various model F-24's are available on the Internet that is(would) be a great thing but at this point I am unaware of it. I will do some research to find out. Regards, Hugh

Hello wclayman, For my project, I use hard copies of the drawing indices obtained from NASM as explained in my reply to Jp.Lorie. Hello Jp, NASM is the National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC. They are the repository for all available F-24 drawings and associated drawing indices turned over to them by Fairchild Corp. Obtaining drawings from them is a very formal, regimented and controled procedure but worth the effort. The procedure begins with your written request to them for your applicable drawing index so you can identify the drawing or drawings needed. Be aware that all drawings shown in an index may not be on hand at at NASM(probably lost forever) but the indices themselves are an invaluable resource. You will recieve via USPS ordering instructions, rules to follows, copy pricing and all the necessary submittal forms. Call me (860)535-1699 if you want the mailing address direct to the archive(It is a long and cumbersome address). Different thread now: I do not know the model F-24 you are working on but the later style universal blocks had bolt bushings in them which
apply to the blocks available from Bill. I have the drawings for the old style blocks without the bolt bushings. Since I have a set of Bill's blocks for my project, I have to order the later drawings in order to have the new blocks machined to the drawing requiements. Actually one could replicate the machine work done on an orginal block for new bushings and bolts and be ok. It a matter of checking dimensions and clearances so the holes are machined square and true and reamed to the correct size(critical).

I have two CD's of drawings, and neither has the reference drawing on them (48107). If you have a copy, would you please send a scan or xerox to me? Write me at burnmcc@aol.com for details and any costs.

Also, this brake lining material is not familiar to me. I have asked some oldtimers and they seem to think it is old auto stuff. Do you or anyone else here know where it may be obtained?
