Re: Fairchild wings P-19
'We are restoring a PT-19 and are well into the restoration. We have the
fuselage complete with a '0' time engine and all it needs now is covering.
We are looking for a Left Wing to complete the restoration. Does anyone know
of one. Our left wing needs major repair. We hope to find a wing and have
this airplane flyable by late November of this year. Yor help would be
appreciated.

Re: F-24 Fuel Tanks
'I have a single 30 gallon tank available if you need it. I think it's
the right tank, but I've slept since then and it's sleeting in Texas,
not a good time to drive 20 miles to the hanger. Let me know if you
need it; I'd like to trade it for other parts I need.
Best Wishes,

Re: Fairchild wings P-19
'Hello Ron,
I've been looking for wings for my own PT restoration project too, for several years now.
Now I have a two pairs of wings, which I have thought were the best of those available. I've
looked at about a dozen wings over the past several years and all have had de-laminations
in the caps of the built-up box spars. Typically the de-laminations occur right where the
attach strap bolts pass through the spar caps. Apparently the aluminum spacers that the
bolts pass through inside the spar caps (that are there to keep the straps from crushing
the built-up wood caps) have corroded and expanded, helping the de-lamination along.
That along with the slightly water soluble casein glue originally used, and the age of the
original wings, have resulted in the de-laminations. To see the de-laminations the
protective plywood covers over the ends of the spars need to be removed.
After thinking about it awhile I've concluded that I don't want to trust my neck on these
wings. But at least I now have the hardware needed to build new wings!
