Re: Thrust Bearing Removal?
'Disregard, thanks. We used my new FA-274 tool -- the thrust bearing retainer wrench -- and discovered that the retaining nut wasn't tight at all. It's supposed to have 6000+ in-lbs. In reality, we loosened it with one hand on the tool! So, we tightened up the nut with the wrench, and the play/runou...

Thrust Bearing Removal?
' Has anyone removed the (front) crankshaft thrust bearing in a Warner 185/R-550? We indexed the shaft the other day and it's right on limits. We've made the tool for removing the retaining nut, and are about to have a look, but just wondering if there is anyone here I could talk to about the whole ...

Re: Front Seal Oil Leak
'Thanks John.
I don't want to ask anything awkward, but was there a STC for that? My F-24W is in standard-category.
Dave'

Front Seal Oil Leak
' Hi All, I have a small but increasing throw of oil out the front seal, and perhaps from the thrust bearing cover. It's a PITA because the oil gets thrown onto the front ignition harness as sell as everywhere else, and can short out the spark. Has anyone had this happen? Is the "oil-slinger&qu...

Re: Radial Pre Oiling
'One thing you can do is pull the spark plugs, then wind it up on the starter for :30 seconds or so, until you see oil pressure. With no load, it'll turn faster than normal.'

Re: PT-23 Shimmy
'On the 24 you can take off the bronze collar and make it slightly smaller. Then it grips the post harder, which doesn't shimmy. Jack up the tail, take off the collar by undoing the 2 bolts, clean them, then lay the mating surfaces on a piece of very fine sandpaper, and take off an educated 2-thou o...

Re: F24R46/UC61K Vne Anomaly
'I was replying through my email feed. Now I see that these replies were not posted. Again: The Type Certificate Data Sheet lists 185 mph as the Vne for a 24W46. Other models are listed in the TCDS library. http://rgl.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rgMakeModel.nsf/0/7CEE7E3A70CBCCE88525673...
