Re: Cold weather ops
'Jeff,I only got the first part of your email. Send an email to basinaviation@yahoo.com and I'll send what I have. It's kinda hard to see much now that it's installed but I think you'll get the idea. I couldn't find it on the cd drawings either. I understand it was used on the Canadian birds but I ...

Re: Cold weather ops
'Hi Jeff, I had similar problems here in Oregon in the winter time. I live at 4100' elevation and it remains cold for a long time. I installed a louvered door like Joe mentioned installed on my PT19. ( found the contraption in the "box of goodies" that followed the airplane around from owner to ...

PT19 Landing Gear Seal/Bumper
'I'm about to replace the springs and bushings in my PT19 landing gear. When it was taken down last annual for inspection, the rubber bumber/seal at the top of the strut looks like it should be replaced. Does anyone have know where these can be found. (If they can still be found...)
Thanks,
Dave'

Re: Spark Plugs
'Thanks Tom. Where can I get a copy off that BG manual? I've noticed on other engines the two plugs were interchangeable but the FAA certificate for ranger engine only lists the champion plugs and BG 417s. Anyway to convince the Faa to make an update? Might take another 40 yrs but its a start ...

Re: Spark Plugs
'Thanks Charles. Mr Joe Denest came through for me and found a few BG 417s plugs for me. Funny thing is while searching around on the internet, I missed an eBay auction for 15 of them by 2 mins. They sold for only $13.50.

Spark Plugs
'Anyone know of a source to purchase BG 417S spark plugs? It seems the REM 40's are readily available but I'd like the shorter/smaller plugs for the left side for clearance behind the carb. My ranger is -C5 engine.
The previous owner left me som BG4B2s plugs. Are these interchangeable?
Thanks ...

Re: Ranger engine oil level
'I keep mine about 3.5 gals. If I keep it topped off, it seems to blow out. The bottom of the bevel of the spout for the oil filler cap seems to work for me and minimizes excess oil on the airframe. I have the same issue with cessna 172. It calls for 6-8 qts. If you fill to 8, it blows all over the ...

Re: Leaking strut
'Hello John,
There should be a line scribed on the dipstick to show you a full indication. As far as the leak goes, my leak turned out to be from the gasket (or lack thereof) under the dipstick nut. It turned out when I landed, some fluid would push out the top and then run down the body of the ...

PT-19 Rudder
'Hello All,
I'm in need of a rudder for a PT19. I just purchased the plane less than a week ago. While getting my insurance check-out with my instructor, we developed a tail wheel shimmy that broke the control arm right at the main post. It appears this is built as part of the main post.
