F24 replacing GEN with ALT wiring

I have installed Jasco 6555T and it came with Plane Power R1224 regulator. New install instructions don't mention the ammeter. Behind my panel is a lot of mess. Old wiring diagram shows #10 wire to ammeter. Someone replaced with what looks like 12 gauge. My question is for those who have converted to Jasco ALT. How did your ammeter get wired in?
