'I was looking at what you had asked and what that I did is probably better than if I had given you exactly what you asked.The rear most point that I used was the center of the bottom bolt on the vertical fin. I used the square shoulder tire versus the oval. I am sure that would have messed the measurements up. The second point is the very inside, and the very front of the collar on the main strut that the axle fits inside. It is probably a point that won't get damaged. Being as I was alone, it provided a good point to where I could secure one end of the tape measure. The Right side measures 18 feet & 5/16 inch. The Left side was close, 18 feet & 1/2 inch. Considering the right side main attach points were repaired in 1948. Left side was undamaged. The right side attach points spacing and location looks good, but the front fitting was off axis by 0.9 degrees and the rear point was off axis by 1.3 degrees. I had to make 2 sets of custom main gear bushing sets. The Fairchild, when I last flew it handled nicely on hard surfaces and was a delight on grass.I don't know the detail of the accident in 1947, but the right main was damaged, she flipped. The new right wing was pre-war, and the left was UC-61. Motor was changed from Warner to Ranger. Rudder, I have no idea where it came from. It had integral rudder trim. (it had 2 adjustable bows on right side)

' Fixing that problem with the gear alignment could be a real bear. If it is only a for/aft thing, a good CAD program can get you in the ball park on how much of a shim you would need and where to put it.That problem that I mentioned was a lot of fun. I had to determine what the alignment was on each of the 2 mounting points. Then with the help of a CAD program, I determined what angle difference is between the outer seat and at what angle the center bolt hole should be. Then figure out how to make the pieces.
