sealing compound

Post by ccmueller001 »

'In the Ranger overhaul manual (item 410, page 107) mention is made of using a sealing compound on the parting surface of the camshaft housing cover on reassembly.

Any idea what would work best in this situation?

'I am a fan of Hylomar, but other engine sealants like Perfect Seal 4, Permatex Form a Gasket 2 or 3, Loctite 515 are other good choices.  You want a non-hardening, non RTV sealant.
I don't recall if the manual calls for it, but I've used silk thread as well.
