Re: brake line flare fittings (PT-19)

'Dear List,

I'm changing some brake lines that are leaking in the middle. The one
connected to the pressure side of the master cylinder has a different
kind of flare nut - with a male thread instead of a female AN818. I've
been looking through my catalogs but can't find one of these. The
Fairchild Parts Manual calls it a "Goodyear' something or other fitting
(don't have the manual in front of me). I can use the old ones but I
like using new fittings when making new brake lines if possible. Are
these available new anywhere? Is this a standard AN fitting or some sort
of special fitting?

Midland has them, among others. Sometimes called reverse flare fittings. Piper was fond of them through the Sixties.
