'I just did the tires last month.I found a tire shop that had experienced guys.  The big brand tire stores didn't give me the best feeling.  Most tire machines have the spades required to dig under the bead of the tire and grip the rim.  No marks/scratches left.

'I can basically tell you how I did it, but it has been a long time ago so the details are lost in my mind.As I am sure, you have tried it. Fighting a tire and wheel is a bear.  The first thing that I did was to bolt the wheel down to a heavy work bench.  Secondly is the part that I vaguely remember.  I used a cheap spring compressor to pull the tire across the wheel.  I think that I may have used a shop towels to cushion the jaw of the spring compressor as to not mark the wheel, then hooked one jaw to the wheel and the opposite jaw to the tire.  Then tightened the bolt.  As you can imagine, the only time that things get tight is when the tire is half way across the wheel.  Once you get more the half way point, everything get easier.  I think that I may have used a dead blow hammer somewhere in the process, so I wouldn't hit and mark the wheel.  I don't think the hammer was than a release of tension, early on.  The spring compressor was just 18" X 5/8" threaded rod, nuts at both ends, and 2 sliding hooks.  I started out using many 4 letter words.  Then bolted the wheel down, and tried the spring compressor.  End result, I didn't hurt the wheel, tire tube, and didn't even work up a good sweat.  Really the hardest part was finding a big bolt and a matching washer, in my junk, that fit inside the wheel. It is the only time that I used the tool.  I bought it 30 years ago when working on the front end of a MG.  Found that it wasn't required. You can take everything with a gran of salt, but it worked.Good LuckBob

I can basically tell you how I did it, but it has been a long time ago so the details are lost in my mind.As I am sure, you have tried it.

'I agree. If I had another tire of any condition, I would take pictures for you.I do a pretty good job.  I build both wings from scratch, all new wood and minor hardware, and missed the perfect rigging by 3/4" total.  That is from center aileron mount to rudder post. After 40 plus years of working, not full time, I may actually fly again within the next year.  Once the wheels clear the runway, I will have the worst case of shakes you have ever seen.  Thankfully, it will only last a minute or two.  That is what happened to me with my Cub.  At least with the Cub, the front seat was in the way, so my knees weren't banging together.  By the time I got to the end of the runway, it was all better.Tasks remaining.  Put color on left wing and hang it.  Put fabric and color on right wing and hang it. and hang a Warner.Bob
