UC61K throttle & mixture rod firewall seals

Post by coxargus »

'What are those lucky people with UC61ks using for the seals for the throttle and mixture control rods where they pass through the firewall?

I am not keen on the small boot on the cockpit side of the firewall - not exactly fireproof.
I'm looking at joystick style rubber bellows but can't find anything that's anywhere near fireproof. Also flexible silica braided conduit which could be made to work.

Just interested to hear what other folk have done or intend to do.

Thanks all

Frank

' just apply this kind of protection to original designed leather boots (which can be reinforced with fiberglass boot on the engine side, just such as the fiber glass used in sandwich firewall material).

'Thank you Joe,

This would be the perfect solution. However there is vertical movement of
the rods relative to the fire wall - hence my query.

It is an awkward one to get a good seal.
