Re: PT26 oil filter
'John, I don’t have a filter on my PT-19 Ranger, but it seems like a good idea to me. I have Baron with two new IO-550E engines that came without filters. I ran them about 200 hours with just the screens and then installed the Air Wolf filters. I did oil samples and was getting about 250 ppm iron in the oil. The first sample after installing the filter reduced the iron to about 60 ppm. I now have 1600 hrs on the engines and the iron in the oil samples runs about 30 to 40 ppm. So in my experience and opinion the filters did a good job of catching the contaminants. So I think a filter on your Ranger is an acceptable idea. If there is a negative, I am not aware of it.
