'There is a firewall forward running Ranger Engine on an engine stand on E-bay right now. The item number is 110792005381. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110792005381&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1123
I don't know if the inclosed link will go through, so I've includded the item number also.

'Be very careful buying a engine that has been run as a display engine such as the one on Ebay. It was ran with a standard propeller which does not

produce much cooling air as required to keep the engine from overheating, no temperature monitoring system was incorporated so the operator could tell if it overheated. Looking at the picture on ebay, there is a temp, oil and fuel indicator mounted on it but I doubt any of them work or work accurately, so its possible it even ran with low or no oil pressure. No oil cooler so it probably ran too hot of oil and as a display engine im sure it ran the cheapest automotive oil available. There are no baffles on the engine as well as no cylinder cooling intake, also it is a 175HP engine. The engine mount (which is highly modified) and oil reservoir are from a PT19/26. Not telling you not to buy it but there might be more damage in this engine than its worth dealing with.

'The same can be said for any Ranger Engine in the 3 to 5 thousand dollar range. These engines are relatively easy to find. Look for someone that will guarantee the parts to be rebuildable. There are a number of people across the country that will do this. I've had good luck with Steve Dennis (dennisaeroventures@yahoo.com). If you are on the west cost you could try Richard Ramos at 916-791-1562. He has a number of complete engines for sale. The Ranger engine came in several different horsepower rateings. If you want a 200 hp engine look for a C5 model. The crank was factory shot peened which is visably different than the lower horsepower cranks, and the rods were stronger. The rods should have a forging number of 8451-F-B. Be sure to talk with someone like Joe Denest to get the scoop on rebuilding one of these motors.
Good luck with your search.
