F24 Paint codes
'Does anyone have the paint code for the original yellow paint used by Fairchild on the F24W46 1946 models? If the yellow was original. Or a close replacement?'
Re: F24 Paint codes
'Ken, Here is what I have direct from the original Fairchild 24 Handbook.
Base Color - Loening Yellow
Trim Color - Stinson Green
Edging Color - Black
Base Color - Stinson Red
Trim Color - Diana Cream
Edging Color - Black
Base Color - Insignia Red
Trim Color - Aircraft Gray
Edging Color - Black
Note: When Exterior color scheme having Loening Yellow background is used, the first two coats of pigmented dope should be applied in "orange yellow".
All colors desognated are from Berry Brothers pigmented dopecolor card. If purchased from other vendors, the color should be an identical match. Trim color is the broad stripe over the top of the cowl and the upper front portion of the fuselage. The same trim is used for the broad stripeon the wheel pants and fr the license numbers on the wings and the tail. 1/8" black edge striping is used between the trim stripe and the base color. (This edging is not used on the license numbers.) The base color is used on all exterior surfaces, except where the trim color is used.
I hope this excerpt from the handbook is helpful. The following paragraphs talk about the interior colors and fabric. Let me know if you would like to have that information as well.

Re: F24 Paint codes
'Steve'
Thank you for the quick answer. I have the Handbook and I was looking at
the wing section and never looked in the back of the book. Thank you. I'm
using the Poly-Fiber system, and the color that most closely matches the
Loening Yellow, appears to be Lemon Yellow.
Thanks again, Ken Fosdick
