Model K Undercarriage struts

'Recently had to have the main struts dismantled on my model K (1938). They are apparently
a smaller diameter unit than the later models although the same length. The springs were
found to be about 2" shorter than the springs in the later units which I believe are 7.5" long.
Also seemed to be stronger than the later units. A spacer has been dropped into the oleo
tube to make up the length.

Would anyone know is the length, spring rate the same on the smaller oleo's and is the
spacer a known fix perhaps for replacement springs. I've only recently acquired the a/c and
apparently been like it for quite some time.

Any info thoughts appreciated.
