Subject: [fairchildclub] Brake Fluid

I am involved with the Iowa Aviation Heritage Museum in Ankeny, Iowa.
We are restoring a Pt19 to flying condition. We are currently working
on the brake system and I read in the Maintenance Manual that you are
suppose to use Mineral Oil or Lockhead Oil in the Brake system. I see
that someone wrote recently that they use DOT 5 fluid. Is this okay?
Where can I get the correct fluid and where can I purchase new master
cylinder seals and brake expander diaphrams from. We have one that I
would not be afraid to reuse and another that I would rather replace.
You can see some of our progress at our website
www.iowaaviationher itagemuseum. web.com
Thank you for your help.

'That's a good deal! They don't make them any more! Use the DOT
5, be prepared for leaks but it will not Lift the paint B.H.
