F-24 fuel lines (resend)

Post by robert Etter »

'After reading the recent E-mails regarding fuel line routing, and looking at what I still have, I'm still pretty much in the dark.

I got the part where they come out of the valve, up through the piece of wood that attaches to the forward part of the door opening of the airframe. Then while running flush tube, up the post toward the front wing attachment point.

That is where everything went crazy. I have the balsa piece that was used to cover the fuel lines and electrical wiring, Part #41851 the piece that gets upholstered, and the old fuel lines.

I think that someone wrote that there wasn't a drawing that showed the fuel line routing. The best that I can figure is, the routing, on mine, was bastardized. It looks like the lines were reshaped or remade, then routed up and over the front wing attach point. (That area of the cabin was thoroughly messed up in the late 40's.)

I guess, all that I would like to know is the approximately correct routing. I would think that they would follow front of the door frame closely upward, then should curve slight inboard and to the rear in the area behind the air vent, then over the attach point for the assist strap. Once behind the door post and front spar carry-through, then curve outward toward the wing.

Any observations?
