Anybody have an opinion on...

Post by Charley Humphrey »

'Hey fellas,
I have heard two schools of thought on using shorter stubbed exhaust on
Ranger engines instead of the 3 cylinder collectors. One school says it's no
trouble, another says you shock cool the valves. Which is right?

'My opinion on shock cooling is don't pull the throttle
back to idle and stuff the stick forward unnecessarily
(unless you really have to). I think that's true for
any engine. In regards to the short stack on each
cylinder, it's a matter of availability of the
collector exhaust. It's cheaper and easier to
fabricate a short stack than find a suitable
replacement collector.
