Nose bowls.

Post by hotfoot49 »

'I don't know everything but I will tell you what I have experienced
over the years with PT's and a 24. I've never found any seal between
the air box and the nose bowl. They have always been fastened with
screws and elastic lock nuts. Never found any rivets! I was able to
see a Ranger powered Grumman last summer at the Willow Run Air Show
and I think the engine is cowled tighter than the Fairchilds. You
don't have the width of the side by side that the 24 is and the PT
is wider that the firewall on the Grumman also.

I've seen pictures of Great Lakes with the Ranger conversion and I
believe they have cut down cowling but still have the regular
Fairchild nose bowls.

If I remember correctly, Tom Goodlett in Alvarado,Texas has a
Ranger powered Great Lakes. His address is 2644 CR 206
Alvarado,Texas 76009 I think Jamie Treat knows this plane. Tom also
has a F-24. Don't know if this is any help,but it's what I know.

Keep Em Flying!
