Trim Chain and sprockets Information

Post by Pilot4906@aol.com »

'Vintage Aircraft Group (VintageAircraftGroup.ORG) has completed restoration
of a PT-26. The trim chain was in poor shape so we bought the chain type that
we thought would work. One of members, Charlie Schmidt, spent many hours
finding a solution. As many already know the original chain is slightly different
size and would not run over the sprockets. Chain of the original size could
not be found. To solve this problem we purchased sprockets that match the
chain. The following may be of interest to anyone with the chain / sprocket
problem. Someone had asked about this recently but I lost that message thus this
message to the entire group.

www.applied-access.com/in is the web site of the company.

Applied Indust. Tech.
600 Colfax St.
Rochester, NY 14606-3114
Phone 585-589-7758

This is a large company and may have an outlet near you.

We purchased the following:

2 ea 25810 Roller Chain Sprocket $4.98 /ea
3 ea 25815 Roller Chain Sprocket $7.05 /ea
20 ft 25RIV Roller Chain Morse Chain $7.80 / ft
10 ft 25CONN SC Roller Chain Part (probably special links or ends) $1.00
ea

We also purchased the following items that most likely do not apply to the
roller chain:
1265-K retaining ring tool for $80.83. I do not know what we used this tool
for.
BR2PLUS14.10Z Lubricant $4.58
2 ea 473440 LIP TYPE SMALL DIA SEAL $13.55 EA Main Gear
2 ea 471760 LIP TYPE SMALL DIA SEAL $ 6.44 EA Main Gear
2 ea HO-275SI PA RETAINING RING $ 1.56 EA Main Gear

2 ea 0087 12449LPD LIPTYPE SMALL DIA SEAL $ 6.49 Tail Wheel

Diaclaimer: I was not the person who installed these parts. The information
above comes from our invoices dated 11/1999 and 01/2000.

I hope this will help anyone with trim chain that needs replacement.
