need source / info on piston rings for Warner 145

Post by dcasali »

'Hello all,

The jugs on my two low compression cylinders are off, and they look good
enough to try Jamie's suggestion of honing and new rings.

The cylinders are orange banded and presumably chromed. The pistons are
the four ring variety, of standard size.

Can anyone help us identify a source for rings (vendor, part numbers,
anything that would be helpful).

If anyone is interested in a trade, I seem to have a complete set of 3
ring piston rings, .010 oversize.

Thanks

Dan Casali'

'Dan,

If your cyl are Channel Chrome, DO NOT HONE. If no scoring is present and
cyl dimensions fall within new or field service and match the ring set. Just
install a new set of rings and start off with Non-Det oil. You will need to
seat the new set of rings to the Chrome Cyl. I stopped using Channel chrome
years ago. Was created for those people that like to let there airplanes
sit. They are hard as hell to get seated and keep seated. Oil temp runs
higher and CHT also.

Jamie
