Aeromatic Oil

Post by plsurflyin@aol.com »

'Hi guys,

I just bought a Fairchild with an Aeromatic Prop. The book says to use
AeroShell Oil 5M, but wouldn't you know it, I can't find any.

What do you recommend to use in an Aeromatic?

Thanks a bunch

'I think you mis-read the words... It should say Aeromatic Lubricant 5M from the owner's manual. My service manual on the other hand says, "Always use Aeromatic propeller Lubricant 7-F. In an emergency use SAE No. 30 oil or if below freezing, use SAE No. 10." It also says that to replace the emergency oil as soon as possible as oil tends to soften the seals.

Kent Tarver is the current owner of the Aeromatic prop. I don't know if he has the 5M lubricate. Phone 775-423-0378 web site is http://www.aeromatic.com/

'Aeromatic users,

We have been using Synthetic 90 wt Gear oil. GM has a blend, but I have
switched to Valvoline. Same spec, same manuf. GM Gear Oil is 22.00 per qt,
Val is 4.00 per qt.
