A Question on the F-24 parking brake.

Post by robert Etter »

'Is there someone out there that knows what drawing on the CD would show the "T" handle for the parking brake? I have 90% of my other questions answered by drawing #42281.
An observation regarding drawing #42281. It shows a mounting flange on the brake master cylinder as being about 1/4" or more thick. Something like the cast iron master cylinder I had been using for years, that I thought was not O.E. or could have been.
I had to chuckle recently about the statement about gluing a shim under the brake pad. There is precedence for doing that. We all know about the Hayes 9 x 1 1/2", #G-2-122. They use the spring clips on the brake pads. If you can find the Hayes #G-2-168, they didn't use clips at all. The brake pads were glued to the expander tube. The cement or glue, to me, looked like the Goodyear Pliobond. On the two metal disks, there is no slots for the spring clips.
I will throw something else out to the masses. One of the brake frame identified by Fairchild part #G-12-30, has Hayes 9" x 1 1/2" G-2-122 (with clips) and the other Hayes 9" x 1 1/4" G-2-168 (without clips). They are virtually the same size. The expander tubes for both had the same part number and the pads for the G-2-168 didn't have the slots for the spring clips.
Go figure.

'By the way, it seems to be the same T-handle as on many american planes
(waco seems to use the same, and I remember about such handle on other
planes like Stearmans, if I am right!)
