Ranger Hub dimensions

Post by dfwsfug »

'Anyone in possession of a large hub that fits Ranger 440 200HP with
15 spline shaft. If you could please post the dimensions. Another
question is the difference between small and large hub the number of
crankshaft splines? Thinking 15 splines large and 12 splines small
hubs.

'The large hub has a 7" diameter bolt pattern (8) bolts. It has 15
splines, including the large keyway.

I do not have a small one handy to measure.

I did not know that Ranger had 15 or12 splines on the shaft all the ones
that I have seen have 20 splines.

'I think you're right John. 440 Rangers have SAE#20 spline. This does
not refer to the actual count of the splines just a sizing number.
Like smaller engines have #10, P&W985 are #30, 1340's #40 etc.
Perhaps the inquiring party is refering to the count(can't recall how
many a #20 has, 12 sounds about right, counting the wide master spline
as 2)or possibly means the splines between the crush plate and hub
body.
