Checklist/seatbelts/flight instructions

Post by pdebruijne@uni-one.nl »

'Hallo everybody,

I'm a Captain for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, flying the B747-400.
During my leisure time I fly with the Early Bird Foundation at
Lelystad Airport in the Netherlands. We have about 20 oldtimers.

We hope we will finish our Fairchild 24R-9 Argus. S/N r9-418, from
1939 and will get the registration N165EB. I will be the pilot on it.
Are there updated/recent flight instructions for this Aircraft?

Has somebody and example of a normal and abnormal/Emergency Checklist
for me?

We also cannot find the right place for our pitot tube. It can be
neer the forward strut of the left wing. But it can also be on the
left wing tip. The tube itself looks to have a heating possibility,
but does it need heating? (VFR flying only)

Does some have a picture of how and where the seatbelts are fastened?

Regards Pieter de Bruijne'

'Pieter,

As for Flight Manual, the CD Rom has both Warner and Ranger flight manuals,
Mil Spec manuals for the UC61 series. Both manuals have General and Emerg
Operation Procedures. Get with John Berendt to order CD, cost is $40.00. I
will be shipping the CDs this week. Burning the CD starts Monday night. Go to
the file section of the Egroup and view the Intro to the CD Rom.

As for Pitot tube, the 24R46 is on the left wing, leading edge, not heated,
not required for VFR.

Send me some photos of the 24R9, in work progress is ok, will include if you
get them to me by Monday Noon USA, Mount Std time.

'I have a 24R9 and my pitot tube is on the top fairing of the left strut.
The odd opening appears to be for the static port. No heating necessary.
If the CD rom does not have the seatbelt answer I will Photo mine and send
them if you give me your address.walt

'Pieter,

I went to fly the F-24 today, was wrong on the Pitot location, left side in
the strut fairing, same as Walt's 24R9. I will check the CD Rom at work and
verify the drawing is there for the Seat Belt Attach.

'Ken,

Skytronics (Jasco Alternators) (Http://www.skytronicsinc.com) has the STC for
the Jasco 50 AMP Ranger install. That will take care of the Engine side.
There is NO STC for the airframe side. That will be a one time Field Approval
via FAA 337. John has copies of the 337 and so do I. They will also be on the
CD Rom which goes out this week. You are not scheduled to receive one, just
checked list. If you want a CD contact John Berendt, cost is $40.00.

There is no STC approval for this installation. You
must provide the data to your local FSDO for field
approval prior to installation. Do not install until
you have this approval.

'Hey Mike! There is an STC for the Jasco, it's a stretch, but the one Jasco
sends you is for the Grumman Widgeon. I just installed mine and it works
like as advertised, it comes in at 1400 and charges what ever the battery
needs. Now I can run the radios, strobes, fuel indicators and GPs at the
same time, and start the engine again!
I'm still fighting the tail wheel shimmy even with new bushings it get
less time but on hard surface it requires a lot of stick activity to
minimize the shake. Bob Haas, Buckingham AAFB FL

'the Jasco alternator is stc'd for the ranger. I have the Jasco approved on
my 24R9 approved with a 337. I can send you a copy of the 337 and also a
photo of the cooling supply for the Jasco. This might be an item for John or
Jamie. Jamie I could send you all the info if you dont have it now.. Advise
