'1) I need to obtain an accurate photo' of the Fairchild Logo,
preferably the one located on the fuselage.
2) Failing the above, is there a website where I could download an
accurate reproduction of it.
Thanks,

Re: Logo
'David,
As Walt stated, Moody Aerographics, there number is 1-800-749-2462. They have
four to choose from. P/N FC-001, FC-002, FC-003, and FC-004. The first three
are the winged type and the forth is rectangular. I can't remember if they
have the oval shaped, not in there catalog on my desk. Give them a call.
Talking with John and going through the history, the most common was the oval
shaped. The early models had the winged type in most cases. All the
documentation I have found, has the Oval shaped, at least 99% of the time. I
have not seen any Rect shaped ones in any Fairchild documentation.
If you need or want the round one I can email it to you, it is also on my web
site below and also on the CD Rom. Just slide you mouse over and right click,
save it to your hard drive. You may want to clean it up with Coral Draw prior
to use. I scanned it in from the Fairchild Flyers and also picked it off the
Fairchild Company site. You can get to the Fairchild site, via the Egroup
Files section, go to the Parts and Services PDF file.
When you capture the image you want, go to a graphics shop and have them
clean it up and make a stencil so that you can mask on the stencil and then
paint it. Wet sand it up to 2500# grit and shoot clear over the top. You want
to feather those edges in. This will work with Dope or Two part paint. The
Dope will tend to peel off with use, without clear dope on top.
If you are just going to use decals, any local shop can make them up if you
provide the image either by elec. means or paper. Choose your color also.
In addition, I had a watch company clean up an Oval shaped logo and laser
printed it on the face of a watch. See my web site, Classified Ads. They
should have that file. I need to get it back and provide to the club.
Let me know what you need.
Sincerely,
Jamie S. Treat A&P/IA
