Moon Glow instrument light

Post by Tom Downey »

'Can some one e-mail me a picture of a MOON GLOW instrument light.
That is whats on the type certificate, And I have no clue as to what
one looks like, because the Fairchild I have has no interior lighting.

The Landing light has a switch that is incorporated in it to turn it
on when it comes down, and turn it off when it goes up. Any one have
an extra that they will sell? Or an idea of how I can make one?'

Basically it looks like an off brand of cockpit. It is about what you would
normally think of on the business end, and it necks down about 1/2 way to
the mount end. On the leads that are connected to it are a rheostat for
controlling the light level and on the back side there was a fairly large
resistor connected across two of the terminals. If no one gets back to you,
drop me an E-mail on Friday, and I will take a picture of mine and send it
along. Mine is Grimes, part number, I don't know off the top of my head.
Can take care of that on Saturday. Part number for the lamp, I haven't the
foggiest idea. Mine is missing.

What type of landing light are you using? The ST-250? I am using the
ST-1220. The big sucker.

' The landing light switch that I always use is a
toggle type switch three position with off being the
middle, left down and right for up.I put the switch
just above the throttle in an horizontal position
between the carb. heat on the left of the switch and
the mixture(red knob) on the right side. With using
this type of switch the L.L. can be shut off during
any time of extention or retraction.Hope this
helps.
