F-22 & F-24 Eng Drawing Digital Effort
'To All Fairchild Club Members:
We are getting close to finalizing this effort. I spoke with John
Berendt this AM. We would like to wrap up the requests within two
weeks. Then I will take action to notify each person that is
interested. All money will be upfront and will be sent directly to
the Club and in turn John will write a check to the Digital Company.
At the present time, there are 53 members interested. The cost at
this time is around $30.00 per person and going down. So if you have
not placed your order, do so soon. The more we have the cheaper it
gets.
I have had many request in regard to this effort, "How about the PT
series. This can be done. Problem is, the club does not hava a
complete set of drawings, the important ones are missing. If any one
has a complete set of good quality, we can do the same CD Rom effort.
Let us know.
Below is the orginal letter sent to the group. If you have any
questions, give me a call or drop an email.
To All Fairchild Club Members:
Some of you may or may not know, the Fairchild Club (John Berendt)
has possession of (600+) F-24 and F-22 Eng Certification Drawings (on
Aperture Cards). A big thank you to Peter Jenkins of Canada for his
effort!! In order to utilize these drawings, a paper form has to be
created. This increases the risk of damage and loss to the Card do to
handling.
I have contacted an Digital outfit in the Denver, Co. area that can
convert all of the cards to a Group 4 TIFF that will be burned onto a
CD ROM. I have also contacted Peter Jenkins and now have the
Electronic copy of the "Table of Contents" (TOC) that will be
utilized on the CD also. Note: The Fairchild Club will retain the Apt
Cards for backup.
What I propose is this: I would like to convert all the cards to CD
ROM with a TOC that is Hyper Linked to the TIFF file for ease of
navigation and viewing. The Tiff file will be printable for shop use.
The cost to convert will run around $1300 US. I will create a Master
CD ROM for the Fairchild Club and a copy for every person that signs
up for the initial distribution. I will also provide a limited backup
for the Club to maintain. I will do all the CD burning, Hyper linking
at no cost to anyone.
The more people that want a copy, the lower the price. I estimate the
cost will be less than $50.00 US per person. I already have 5 people
interested and I believe John has 5 also.
If your interested, drop me or John Berendt a line and we will keep a
head count. Once we have enough people interested we will be able to
determine a formal price.

'Jamie, I have two rolls of film that are supposed to be PT 19 text and
drawings. The frames are 1 1/2 x 1 3/4 inches, and the spools are 3 3/4 in
diameter. If the Club can use them, I'll send them to John Berendt. They
are W.W.II vintage and
May not be worth the price to reproduce them. Let me know. Bob Haas

Re: F-22 & F-24 Eng Drawing Digital Effort
'Bob,
Let John know what you have. I talked to John today about the PT series. Also
talked to Joe Denest about what he has for the PT. Joe has quite a bit, plus
some excellent drawings for the Ranger engine. The Warner is not a problem,
John Duncan has all those and he lives in Colorado Springs. Working on
getting the Warner in production, that is another story that will someday
unfold.
The big kicker will be what happens with the lawsuit against the FAA in
regard to the F-45 drawings. The FAA has the complete set of the F-45 and the
PT series. The ideal situation would be to get all the drawings for the PT
and any other data and there is a lot of it, digitized and stored on CD
forever.
Sincerely,
Jamie S. Treat A&P/IA

'You mention a lawsuit against the FAA in regards to the F 45 drawings.
Could you share with me who is bringing this suit and if there is any
need for assistance to them?
I am very interested in any future digital efforts for Warner and PT

Re: F-22 & F-24 Eng Drawing Digital Effort
'Cliff,
Give John Berendt a call in regard to all the F-45 details, he is keeping aprized of the suit.
The Digital effort for the PT will be a wonderful thing. As for Warner Digital, have only mentioned that to John Duncan. Since that TC is active and is owned, chances to get personal eng drawings will be slim, no need as long as someone is willing to assist owners. John Duncan and I did talk about putting the maintenance manuals for the Great Lakes and the Warner in CD form, he liked the idea.

Jamie,
You mentioned Joe Denest has some Ranger dwgs. Do these have
production or engineering data. In particular nominal dimensions.
Do you know of a source for this info?
This drawing thing is kind of snowballing,eh?
Thanks

'Bob,
He just mentioned a few, Cyl drawings, Valve drawings, Seat drawings and on.
I would assume they would be Production drawings. Let it snow ball! One can
never have enough technical data.
