Re: Data Plate Restorations

'Does anyone know of any place that does data plate restorations? My
Ranger data plate is barely legible. I asked my IA about replacing
it with a new one, but he looked this up and it is illegal to do so.

I would be very interested in what FAA Reg your IA is talking about. Never
seen or read one. You cannot alter data plate or the info on in. I have been
replacing data plates for 25 years and I know many other A&P and IA's that
have been doing just that and the FAA knows it.

You can go to my website below and order a new Data Plate. Just installed a
new Fairchild (Dallas) and Temco data plate for my F24.

If your IA has a problem with a new plate, find another IA.
