'The only thing that I know, is that my 24 had the old moonglow installed. I
have no idea if it works or if I have all the correct pieces to make it
work. I suppose that you already know, it looks much like an ordinary
cockpit light. Sorry that is about all I know.

Re: Fairchild Moonglo Lustlights
'Dan,
Someone on the list probably knows better, but I have never heard the term 'lustlight' associated with the Fairchild Moonglo light.
Sounds like a 'mile high club' kind of thing.
The Moonglow light was about 3/4 inch diameter and 4 inches long, with a variable focus lens and attached to a swivel base. In the
24, they were mounted over the pilots right ear, attached to the 'box' around the carry through.
I have been looking for one for a few years.

'Dan,
I am lucky and have two in my F-24. MoonGlow is the correct name. Steve Hamilton questioned me a few weeks ago. He remembered my 24 had them, sent a photo. He is also looking for a set. Steve and I are also looking for a new/old source for the Anti Skid material that goes onto the Wheel Fenders, lift stuts, door sills and rudder pedals. There appears to be three patterns that were used. Most common was the Diamond pattern. Will pass on any info if we locate.

'Ditto..I have never heard of the "lustlight" term associated with the Moonglow. If you're looking for one, watch e-bay auctions. They had one there about four months ago...new old stock in the box...that I believe sold for something arund $40.00 to $50.00. I bought one on e-bay, new in the box, (never installed) about a year ago. Good luck. They're around.

'i have the moonglow light in my 24 and it is a fairchild camera and
equipment light which shines on the instrument panel and originally would
light the radium dials of the old instruments. i originally had the old
instruments and they would glow very bright with this light. almost
everything is original on my 24 which is a 1939 delux model which also has a
landing light in each wing....walt

Check restoration supply co. in Reno, NV for a pyramid style alum
sheeting. They have a spot on match to the stuff on my rudder pedals.
not cheap tho, seems Pierce Arrows and other elaborately expensive
cars have the same material on the running boards.
Are you sure that jasco alt is stc'd for ranger? My skytronics lit.
says that it's stc'd for a Grumman G164. Last time I checked that was
an agcat a widgeon is G144. It works any how as I know of 3 on 24's
that were approved and flying.
Just some ideas!'

'Twing4@juno.com
Thanks for getting back to me. As for the Skid Alum. Have found the original
supplier to Fairchild back in the 30's. Rigid Metals out of Buffalo, NY. Have
a 4' X 12' on order.
As for Jasco Alt, no STC, just approved for the Ranger Engine, will require a
full blown FAA 337 for both the Engine and Airframe. As you said has been
done before, should be no trouble. Hopefully no need for a DER/DAR.
Sincerely,
