Beech Electic Prop
In 1988 Fairchild 24 NC28690 was certified with a Beech Electric prop.
Anyone knows of the corresponding STC?
Thanks!
Bart

Bart:
That Fairchild was rebuilt by Ed Wegner. He took the Beech prop off because he didn't like the performance and put an AER)-MATIC on which I think it still has on today. Ed has since past away. The present owner is Russ Fortin of Linden, MI . E-mail russ.fortin@gmail E-mail me at hotfoot149@gmail.com and I will give you his PH. number.

Re: Beech Electic Prop
Hello Mike,
Thanks for your response.
I have here an article from 1988 where Ed is telling about his restoration and how the Beech prop gave him extra performance.
My Fairchild 24 has the Aeromatic as well, much to my delight.
The only worry is that I do not know of any shop that can overhaul it when time has come and finding another airworthy one does not look evident.
Unless of course you have knowledge of any.
All best,
Bart

Hi Bart, I just came across this. I still own Ed's fairchild but I ran into the same problem with my Aeromatic. I removed it and am looking for someone to overhaul it. I have a sensenich on it for the time being. Ever find someone to work an aeromatic? That was an awesome prop. Lost about 15 mph when I took it off, and had to remove that pretty spinner...

I also have ALL of Ed's paperwork so I could try to find that STC for the beech.

Something you might want to look into. A few years back (about 2005 ) I was working on and annualed Kurt Wein’s Ranger powered Widgeon. It had drilled cranks and light weight Hartzel props on it. It was either he or his dad told me they had six cranks drilled for Rangers. That paperwork has to be out there somewhere. If it’s of interest I can chase Kurt down and find out who owns the Widgeon now.

Russ: As far as I know, Tarver was the last TC owner for the Aeromatic and hasn't serviced them in many years. I seem to remember seeing something where they turned in the TC about 10 years ago.Russfortin wrote: ↑Thu Dec 23, 2021 7:36 am Hi Bart, I just came across this. I own the other Ed Wegner-restored F24 - NC25323. Just purchased. Much to learn. I saw a Beech electric for sale on barnstormers recently. I still have the Aeromatic. I also have 2 new blades, but unless I find a shop to restore my hub and replace blades, it may not do me any good. If anyone ever finds someone to do it for certified aircraft, let me know.

Re: Hartzell prop/hub assembly replacement
I'm having similar but somewhat different issues.
I have the F24R; N81306 with the Hartzell HC-12X20-8C / 8428 Prop/Hub assembly with the diaphragm behind it for an adjustable prop pitch mechanism. I had leading edge damage to the prop and couldn't find anyone to work on the prop (Phenolic) or the hub, until recently.
I have the feeling that sooner or later I'll need to figure out what I'll have to do once I have to replace this prop assembly. I'm told my Hartzell that there is an STC that went on a Bellanca 14-13 and a Mr. William Husk owns the STC. However, I can't find anything on the STC, or the name.
Any suggestions, or help would be greatly appreciated!!
Regards,
Mike

Re: Beech Electic Prop
Aircraft Propeller Works in Florida are doing my propeller. They won't overhaul it, they are doing what they call a "re-seal and re-finish". I found two phenolic blades to replace the damaged blade I have on my prop.mzechini wrote: ↑Mon Mar 14, 2022 5:06 pm I own the other Ed Wegner-restored F24 - NC25323. Just purchased. Much to learn.
