Bart,

Not sure if you have had it apart but it is a very simple design and should be relatively easy to fix - the photos show how it works.

The little 'Roller' sitting in the groove of the inner rod, attached to the 'Thumb button', is held at the bottom of the 'slope' by the spring. In this position it is below the centre line of the outer tube and so jambs the rod against the tube, holding the parking brake on.

When the button is depressed, ie. to let the parking brake off, the roller rides up the slope towards the wider part of the tube at the centre line which releases the jambed inner rod allowing the it to slide and the brakes to be released.

Obviously the length of the roller is fairly critical but with a bit of trial and error it will become good.

The blue 'gloop' is waterproof grease.

Hope this may help if you cannot get another one.

Frank

Hi Frank,

Thanks. I will take it apart and check its 'inner workings'.

Great pictures that illustrate what you explain.

Cheers,
Bart
