Hayes Brakes -Surplus

Post by james chybicki »

'Hi Group Some of you know that our UC-61K has finally finished restoration and is airworthy. It only took 17 1/2 years of weekends, holidays and occasional days off from work.During the restoration we installed a set of fresh rebuilt Hayes Brakes.  We decided to convert over to Clevelands so we can keep N24FM (aka (HB690) flying for many years to come. So, off with Hayes system and on went the Clevelands!
We now have 2 fresh rebuilt Hayes Brake assemblies with NOS expander tubes and New old Stock Brake pads that have about 10 brake pedal applications on them. (they have DOT 3 brake fluid in them)  We also have a set of UC-61K / N24FM 6.50 X 10 Hayes wheels and numerous sets of used and partial Hayes brake assemblies and 1 set of NEW and 1 set of used master Cylinders to offer for sale to the club.

I went to dot 5 automotive which is called out in the 1946 flight manual . I submitted that page with the 337 field approval. I don’t have the wheel pants mine came with the fenders. I have herd it said that the pants actually slow it down
even if they do look sexy. The stock cylinders are quick to respond in combination with the 3 spot calipers but are not grabby at all. they will slow you right down. Best combination I have ever flown in the last 60 years.
