replacing PT main gear springs

Post by ccmueller001 »

' I would like to replace the main landing gear springs in my PT – (part number 61107). On removal of the strut assembly (pn – 61112) I find that the seal assembly (pn – 61118) has been modified.   The current seal assembly has a solid top surface with 4 flat head machine screws anchoring it to the top of the strut tube. The screw axes are perpendicular to the long assembly axis.   Is anyone familiar with this modification?   The modified top piece doesn’t appear to be threaded into the tube. I haven’t tried heating the tube or cooling the inside top piece.   Any recommendation on how to proceed to remove the top piece would be appreciated.'
