F-24 flying etc.

My dad had a Ranger F-24-R46 that I flew for several years. I did mostly 3 point landings,  a majority  were on grass. I did land on hard surface at times without any problem (3 point). The 46 model is definitely  a little different than the early models. I held some power on to control my decent . Kept speed at 80 MPH until I was ready to flare. Then I brougth the power back as I started to bring the stick back. Smooth landings every time! This plane tracked straight as an arrow all the time.

'The 24w that i have was sweet.  I had lots of high speed ground time because of density altitude.  The old girl was just fun.  i did a take off run over 6K feet long and mostly straight as an arrow.  Or squeek a 3 point on hard surface.  Really loved wet grass, land in a crab with wings level.Not bad for a airplane that could have been written off.  Needed both wings, motor & mount, right main, repair top of fuselage, rt. main attach point,  and new (used) rudder & vertical.The practice came in handy.  The first time that I flew a 34 Waco cabin, slicked it on grass, on the mains.  The owner had but one comment, "Smart Ass".  I guess I wasn't supposed to do that, especially the first time.I am looking forward to fly again this summer after 43 years.
