' Pardon me for hijacking this thread slightly, but I heard there were records somewhere identifying which F-24’s, etc. were impressed during WWII for military service – coast watching, etc. I’d like to find out if my F-24W40A was one of those. I have all the records (originals, not copies) from the day it left the factory (22 July 1940) to the present, but info from the war years seems conspicuously absent. Could anyone direct me to something that might show where my airplane was during WWII. Thanks. I will check what I have on the impressed F-24s and get back to you. If it was impressed and served with the USAAF there should be an individual record card for it. Perhaps then we will be able to find the unit it was assigned to.

'That's the military serial number, they should be looking at the Fairchild serial number T42-382, if they didn't already.
