I'm not clear on what threads you are talking about on the gear casting. You should have jack points on the bottom of the front spar behind the gear casting. I removed the casting from the spar when I re bushed and put new seals in last spring. I removed the strut and casting from the spar. This requires you to remove the gas tanks so you can get at the bolts that hold the casting on the spar when you are ready to install the castings. It's a bear to get at the nuts on the 2 short nuts that go through the "ears" on the casting. You have to remove the wheels and brake assemblies from the strut.
the other way is to jack the plane way up at a tail low attitude and remove the strut from the casting with the casting still fasten to the spar. Make sure you weight the tail down when you have the plane jacked up. I will measure a strut today and see how long the tube is. That will give you an idea of how much you would have to jack the plane up to clear the casting.

I am looking at pulling the strut off the lower casting, where the axel is located on.
