Regarding Fuel Tank sending unit.

Post by robert Etter »

'I was worried about the Fuel Tank sending unit, but after making one telephone call I was back to the real world.  The SW F-385C is about as common as anything can get.  I shopped around to 3 or 4 different places on the internet.  Prices range from about $23.00 - $30.00.  The place I called had only 90 of the units in stock.  Even with Fed Ex ground, I'll have 2 in hand in less than 3 days. The only question remaining with respect to the sending units, "Would you orient the float to read the empty side of the tank or full?"  Put the float outboard and slightly to the rear of the gas cap.  The good thing is that I still have the old sending units, and I think I can look at the torn gaskets to see where they were 42 years ago.Thank for the help.Bob
