Rear Lift Struts - Again!

Post by coxargus »

'Folks
All Holes now welded up and looking good...............However

I have noticed from witness marks that a degree of 'Assistance' has been used in the past to fit the bottom of the rear struts over the sleeves in the fuselage tripod.

The distance between the reinforcing plates at the base of the struts  in drawing 44170 is shown as 1 1/8". Mine both measure at 1.068" and the tripod sleeves at 1.136 - a difference of a little over 1/16".

Has anyone else encountered this one and would it be in order to reduce the sleeves by 1/32 at top and bottom? - I don't like using hammers! and anyway it forces the bushes in the struts out of alignment.

Experiences and thoughts all gratefully received - many thanks.
