Warner VMN7DF mags

Post by gilmoreredlion »

'The Warner book says VMN7DF Bendix mags. Then you have Bendix VMN7DFA, I know that the -A- means in the DFA, Autoretard, it works like a mechanical advance auto distributor.
My question is the 'DFA' mag 'legal'?

Where is a source for harnesses and mag repair for the VMN7DF?

Thanks,
Mark'

Hello Mark,

The engine's type data certificate lists the approved magnetos for use with the engine.
ASI (Aircraft Systems Inc) at Rockford Illinois will service the mag for you.
Years ago I found a tech rep at Bendix (Atlanta) just shortly after they were taken over by TCM that was an old employee and was very helpful with the old tech data.

' Can't speak to the DFA issue, but Fresno Airparts has harness materials. I would look at Savage Magneto in Calif for service, tho parts (coil, condenser) was a real issue for me a couple of years ago. I found a small supplier in San Fernando Valley, will look up their info if you need it.   Bill McClure -----Original Message-----
