Shock mounts for instrument panel.
'
Does anyone know of a source for the rubber shock mounts for the PT-26 instrument panels? The metal plate that the rubber is mounted in is 1-3/4" square. Banaire use to have them but they have went out of buiness and sold everything at auction I think.
A old one I have says MONEL Series 150 on the metal plate.

'Yeah, I got a set last year for the 26 that I am building. I don’t have the paperwork with me here at the house, it’s at the hangar. I will retrieve my files in the next few days and let ya know… Now….. I need a favor. I need one floating instrument panel for my 26, with the brackets. Do you have an extra or know where I can find one?????????????FritzSan Diego From: fairchildclub@yahoogroups.com [mailto:fairchildclub@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of hotfoot49@hotmail.com

'Found this place on line.....the catalog shows the right mounts. Not sure of availability. The 150 is the size(1.5 inch)/type(diamond). The stiffness of the rubber is the other variable. I seem to recall that number being on the mount or molded into the rubber. http://www.westernrubber.com/products/lord-mounts/ http://www.westernrubber.com/wp-content/uploads/Lord-Plateform-Mounts.pdf

' Mike: I have quite a few rubber shock mounts of different types, some of which sound like what you are looking for. Can you give me a description and I'll check the stock. Bill McClure '

Re: Shock mounts for instrument panel.
'Good luck on finding new 100APL (Square) shock mounts. If I remember correctly, Lord doesn't make that model any longer. If someone was to front a complete run of several hundred, they might do it. That would be several thousand dollars. Lord is at 1-877-asklord. I did find some 100PDL(diamond) that look like a good substitute. They are the diamond design, and they have the same dimension as the 100APL. They only have 2 mounting holes on a diagonal, and they are the same distance apart 1.414". That is the same as what you are looking for. Aircraft Spruce has some 100APL's, and they are surplus, and not new. The ones that I bought recent are 100PDL-2 (diamond) from "Herber Aircraft Service, Inc PH 310-322-9575". NOTE: did you notice the small holes either below the upper mounting screws, or above the lower mounting screws on the instrument cluster panel. They work great for aligning the "L" shaped mounting brackets screw holes. Use rib stich needle to align the "L" bracket to the main panel. Then insert the screw. Bob

Subject: Re: [fairchildclub] Shock mounts for instrument panel.
Good luck on finding new 100APL (Square) shock mounts. Bob

Good luck on finding new 100APL (Square) shock mounts. Bob

Re: Shock mounts for instrument panel.
'I give you a quickie on the dimensions of the mounts that I have looked at. (some of the suffixs may differ)100APL Series - 1x1" centers on the bolt pattern. Rubber dia - 1". Bolt dia - 0.166" 150APL Series - 1.375X1.375"centers on the bolt pattern. Rubber dia - 1.5". Bolt dia - 0.257" If you can use the 150 series, I am happy for you. The PT-19 I worked on many years ago used the 100 series. The F-24 that I have uses the 100 series. I shutter at the thought of remaking the 8 pieces of the instrument cluster mounting system to accommodate the 150 series. I blue printer the F24 mounts years ago using what I could glean from the CD. I scaled the drawing to the point that I could print it, cut it out and glue it to the metal that I was using. All the cut lines, centers, dimensions, and bend lines were ready and waiting. I looked at a couple of the mounts that I couldn't use and there isn't enough material to allow for the 1.5" hole so the rubber can go through the mount and the mounting flange to be flush against the mount. Lord has a E-mail account http://www.lord.com/. It has all the info for "PLATE FORM MOUNTS". Bob

Subject: Re: [fairchildclub] Shock mounts for instrument panel. Good luck on finding new 100APL (Square) shock mounts. Re: Shock mounts for instrument panel.
'After some research I find that the original mounts for the PT-26 instrument panels that we have, have 150 series and steel stamped on the square metal plate. Looking at Lord documents I find the 150P- ?? is the correct mount. The ?? are to indicate the weight to be held.
Looking at Aircraft Spruce I find that they have the square 150P for 24 lbs with part number 08-07183. With the old gyros, the floating panel will be quite heavy. The mounts they show are a little less than $12.00 each
The PT-19 panels we have, have the 1" platform mounts. These are also available at Aircraft Spruce.

I give you a quickie on the dimensions of the mounts that I have looked at. (some of the suffixs may differ) 100APL Series - 1x1" centers on the bolt pattern.

Bob

Re: Shock mounts for instrument panel.
'That sure sounds good to me. I noticed on the Aircraft Spruce catalog, the 100APL "New surplus item - like new mfg". I have several of the 1" square mounts, but I have no idea as to the date of manufacture. So I bought 8 of the 100 APDL that were certified as new. The price was quite a bit higher than what you paid. How I need to remove 16 1/8" rivets. And it happens to be too darn cold. Today's high, maybe 29 deg. Bob

After some research I find that the original mounts for the PT-26 instrument panels that we have, have 150 series and steel stamped on the square metal plate.

Subject: Re: [fairchildclub] Shock mounts for instrument panel.
I give you a quickie on the dimensions of the mounts that I have looked at. (some of the suffixs may differ) 100APL Series - 1x1" centers on the bolt pattern. Bob

Still waiting for description. I have quite a few different types I obtained from San Fernando surplus shops years ago. Bill McC -----Original Message-----

Subject: Re: [fairchildclub] Shock mounts for instrument panel. Good luck on finding new 100APL (Square) shock mounts. Bob
Mike: I have quite a few rubber shock mounts of different types, some of which sound like what you are looking for. Can you give me a description and I'll check the stock. Bill McClureOn Tuesday, December 3, 2013 4:03 PM, "burnmcc @aol.com" wrote:
