Off to Oshkosh

Post by Michael Kelly »

'Penny and I will be on our way to Oshkosh on the 23rd. We will have a table again in the Vintage Hangar for the Fairchild Club and welcome you to stop by and say Hi. We will have the table set up till the end of the day on Friday the 2nd of August. They like to clear the Type Clubs out so they can set the building up for a program the next day. Hope to see you there!

'Penny, The clear out might have changed as they moved the annual meeting to
Wednesday instead of Saturday.

'Fairchild PT-19 N46871 arrived at Oshkosh today. The plane is the 2nd PT-19 restoration by Don Newman. You can search “Flabob PT-19” and find a few stories of this restoration. The airplane now lives in Texas as does Don’s 1st PT-19 restoration – though owner, Jack Threadgill, seems to prefer faster transportation to OSH. Joining our group from Texas again this year is 92 year old veteran and author, Jack Hibbits. The Army Air Corp as Jack to tell the story of his learning to fly in 1942 and the book after he earned his wings, Take ‘er Up Alone, Mister, is a terrific read for Fairchild enthusiast. Drop by and visit during the show.
