Re: F24 oil tank mounting question
'Joe,
The UC-61 parts catalog, AN01-115CA-4, details the Warner 165 oil system installation including the oil tank. The Manual is available from ESSCO or other aircraft manual dealers or I can send you copies of the applicable pages. Advise?
The oil tank is mounted on the firewall with adjustable straps and felt lined standoffs which are bolted through the firewall to hard points on the airframe. Pictorials and part numbers for the oil tank mounting hardware are given in the parts catalog.
Not sure, but some drawings for the individual parts may be available from NASM and some forum members may have some of the needed parts available.?

'I'm pretty sure I've got a set of those straps with the felt lined standoffs etc. Maybe a tank to. I've
been out of the circuit for a bit so if anyone needs these items and confirms via drawings or
photos I could make an easy deal.

'Thanks guys. I have a new set of straps and the felt lined wood strips. I also have the drawing, but it doesn't really show the bracket that is attached to the top. It appears like there is some kind of attach points welded to either the mount or the frame.
Hugh, if you could send me copies of the applicable pages, that would be great. We are making a new mount so now is the time to make the attach brackets as well.

Re: F24 oil tank mounting question
'Joe ,
I'll need a mailing address. The copies will be in the mail this coming Thursday or Friday. The oil system breakdown does not show the airframe attach points but it is possible the the airframe breakdown does. I will check and if so, I will include that also. The breakdowns consist of a pictorial with item numbers and the associated parts list with the respective part numbers and drawing title. My email address is: c8c2683@att.net if you want to use that for sending the mailing address.
On my Fairchild, if I remember correctly, two attach points spools are welded to the airframe and two bolts (all AN-4) go through drilled holes in a square hoizontal tube welded to the airframe stucture. Seems to me you are going to have to determine the optimum location for your oil tank. Don't forget to consider vertical and horizontal weight balance about the centerlines. Again on my Fairchild, the tank and oil on the right side is balanced by the battery weight on right with both items located on the plane of the firewall on the horizontal centerline. I would send pictures but the fuselage is totally masked off for painting at the present time. You would be welcome to check out the installation if you are in the New London area say in a month so. Just give me a heads up to make sure the fuselage is unmasked.
