I was wondering if there was something better ie. a silicone grease which would do the job and be less messy and possibly better.

Any thoughts gratefully received

'Along this line, maybe someone could provide some insight. In my 24, I have always had a odd sort of squeek coming from the left wing when actuating the ailerons. I was able to see (with difficulty) that the source of the sound is a felt pad around the aileron push/pull tube, where it rubs a bit. Trouble is, there is no inspection hole provided to gain access to the immediate area to try any fixes. Is is just a little annoying, and does not affect the operation in any way, so I've lived with it. Any ideas?

'Just a little information that worked, but is a little messy. When you find the proper felt, thickness, put it in a pan of water and freeze it. Bore a 1/4" hole in the center and cut the outer diameter with a hole saw. Put a mandrel in the center and connect it to a drill press and cut the groove. Maybe under cut the diameter slightly. Then remove the mandrel and cut the center diameter. Since you have the center hole of 1/4", it will stay centered. Then set it a side and let it defrost and dry out.Freezing it in water, will allow you to get a clean of the felt without tearing it to useless pieces. I can guarantee it will be messy. Cut all of the big first, put back in the freezer. Then do each task one at a time and refreeze. It will be less messy. Bob
