Need a PT-19 Master Cylinder or Rebuild Kit

Post by kinner_sportster »

'Hi all

I have a 1935 Kinner Sportster - to my knowledge this is one of two flying. I tried to fly the Kinner from CT to Blakesburg this last labor day weekend and had to abort the trip when I lost my right brake.

Sometime back in the 70's a previous owner replaced the mechanical brakes on the Kinner with PT-19 Brakes. The master cylinder that failed is in pretty sad shape, but could possibly be rebuilt. Anyway, ideally I'm looking for a better master cylinder - Goodyear part 218073-3 or a rebuild kit. I thought I saw some references to some automotive Napa Parts that could be used to rebuild this master cylinder on this site. Any help or insight on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

'Bob, I rebuilt the 1" Goodyear Brake Cylinders, P/N 95-0585 on my PT-19

and replaced the brake fluid with DOT 5 Brake Fluid and they have worked
very well.

Hope this helps.

A huge thank you - Ordered the Napa UP-190 rebuild Kit and completed the repair this weekend. Also drained and flushed the system in order to switch over the Synthetic Dot-5 Fluid. The brake peddle is now firmer than at anytime since I got the Kinner Flying in 2004.

Thanks again for sharring your insights.
