Re: NEW MEMBER - Warner question.

Post by Joe Preston »

'Hi Guys,
I am looking for information around the Firewall forward for a Fairchild 24.
In particular, I am looking for a drawing for the Warner 165 mount. I have
been in touch with one of your members and we are pursuing getting a drawing
for a 145, but I thought I would ask to see if anyone has one. I realize
this has probably already been asked and discussed, but as a new member, I
wanted to be sure. I am also interested in finding a drawing for the oil
tank. Anyone have anything related?
Thanks,
Joe

I'm in the midst of restoration of a 1937 24G...have both a 145 Warner
mount...removed from the fuselage...and a 165 mount...for the conversion.
Maybe you could make a copy.

'Hi Richard,
Thanks for the offer. I am in NJ. I can make that work if needed. I have a
new 165 mount that someone made up but we are 99% sure it is incorrect. The
old dish pan and spinning are sitting about 2" too high. If I can get the
drawings off of the disk, that may be the easiest approach.

Just curious, are there measurable differences between the 145 and the 165
mounts?

'The 145 mount is completely different...the fuselage tubing extends out
past the firewall to taper...with a circular tube mount attached. The 165
mount starts right at the firewall and detaches from the firewall. The
dishpans are also completely different with the 145 being a tapered cone...the
165 is a flatter plate with curved sides.
Good luck to you. I hope the drawings will be what you need.
